Harvest Cafe
Delicious homemade goodness
Harvest Café opened in 2011 as part of A Very Special Place, Inc., (AVSP) that unites a chef and restaurant staff with innovative educators and agency program participants to be a full service successful daytime restaurant. The Café is open Wednesday – Sunday from 8:00AM-3:00PM serving breakfast, lunch and brunch either for dining in or takeout, and delivery service is also offered through Door Dash.
Program participants learn first-hand experience in the food service industry by working at the Café and receive training about the food industry including the proper use of all equipment. Each participant will learn new skills and
tasks that include customer service, indoor and outdoor restaurant maintenance, food preparation and presentation, dishwashing, laundering and other cleaning services. Trained habilitation staff work with an Executive Chef and restaurant
professionals who share their expertise and knowledge of the business with the trainees to facilitate eventual job placement in the industry. Skills learned and experience gained in the café may allow members of the program to progress in seeking employment in the restaurant/food industry in the Staten Island community. The café features weekly specials and occasional monthly dinners that you can find listed here and on social media. All areas throughout the restaurant are wheelchair accessible and street parking is available. There is also outdoor seating on the front porch depending on the season. We can also accommodate private parties and business meetings with specialized menus and pricing. In addition, the café also offers catering services for private homes and/or businesses.
